It’s time to rise and shine, Sweet Friends! Happy Monday morning to you!
I was recently contacted by Cindy from DIY Beautify, Lauren from Bless’er House and Mandy from The Hankful House to take part in the Tour Through Blogland series.
On this tour, I am to answer four questions to let you know a little bit more about me and show off a little bit about my home.
Before I begin let me introduce you to the three fabulous ladies that nominated me for the tour.
Cindy from DIY Beautify
Cindy was born to create! She says the dust bunnies can pile up when she has a paintbrush in her hand and I totally believe her. Just look at these furniture makeovers!
Painting an Upholstered Chair // Nightstand Makeover // Console Table Update
Lauren from Bless’er House
Like me, Lauren is a Southern girl through and through. She has an obsession for burlap, chalk paint, barnwood, and all things rustic. She and her hubby are transforming their cookie cutter house into a cozy cottage, one DIY at a time!
Here’s just a sampling of Lauren’s fabulous projects:
The Most Efficient Way to Create a Gallery Wall // DIY Restoration Hardware Rope Chandelier // DIY Faux Fireplace
Mandy from The Hankful House
Mandy describes herself as a photographer, blogger, wife, mom to 2 kids, and {my personal favorite} a superhero to some. Plus Mandy has just begun her journey to becoming a teacher! Way to go, Mandy!
Here’s a sampling of Mandy’s awesome creative self!
Flip Flop Summer Wreath // A Little Monday Morning Sunshine // It’s a Lovely Table, Isn’t It?
Here goes the questions!
1. What am I working on?
Currently, I’m entertaining children and counting down the days until school starts back.
Come October I know I will be saying bad words about homework and spelling test. {I despise spelling words.} But if I have make one more PB&J or sweep up any more potato chip crumbs, I’m going to run away screaming.
Fortunately, summer’s laid back attitude has given me the freedom to start several projects. Too many projects actually.
Here’s a few that I’ve actually finished:
Navy Kitchen Chandy – Ah, I’m still in love!
Turn a freebie make-up bag into a Fancy Clutch ~ Perfect for a date night with Honey!
It took me a while but I’m finally happy with my Coastal Gallery Wall. All done on a budget, of course.
2) How does my work differ from others of its genre?
One word: Color.
I adore color and would never be happy in a mono-chromatic, pristine white home.
For goodness sakes, I painted my kitchen fixture navy and my front door is brilliant red! Which by the way, is a fabulous color for showing all my Star Spangled Door Decor.
I can’t forget my beyond colorful DIY Abstract Circle Artwork. It add such a great pop of colorful atop my Kitchen Hutch.
3. Why do I write/create what I do?
My life’s motto is to “Make Your Own Happy”.
Creating, transforming, and designing spaces in our home is how I put that simple philosophy into action. Seeing how I can change an outdated piece into something so much better fills me up. The bonus is sharing the process with you!
4) How does your writing/creating process work?
Almost every one of my posts begins with a list.
A list about what needs to be updated. A list of ideas. A list of all the fun things I found at Goodwill. You get the picture.
The teacher in me adores list and list making.
Here’s how the process usually works: I’ll decide I’ve had enough of the burgundy wallpaper in the guest bath then start working on a circle map web of what needs to be changed and how I can make it happen. One piece at time the room get transformed.
Just like when I updated Tootsie’s space into an Adorable Little Girl’s Room. From the Repaired & Revived Hope Chest passed down from my grandmother to the fabulously fun Dress-Up Station, the room was pieced together bit by bit.
I’d love to show off the rest of our home. Click {here} to see our Summer Home Tour!
So now that I have shared about me, let me introduce you to two wonderfully creative ladies.
Bethany from Pitter and Glink
Bethany is a life-long crafter who also happens to be a high school English teacher. Like me, she owes her creativity to her grandmothers. Even her dad helped her along the crafting way by teaching her about tool, wood working and plumbing.
Since I am always looking for simple, inexpensive ways to create artwork for our home I love Bethany’s DIY Feather Art for the Not So Artistic. Such a pretty piece and the technique can be used for so many other projects.
How to Create Large Custom-Sized Graphics using PicMonkey is an awesome tutorial for anyone wanting to learn more about how to design their own statement pieces for the home.
Adrienne from Chic California
I adore Adrienne and her fabulous California Style! Interior design, fashion, beauty, style are all things that she loves and day-dream about. Adrienne also loves finding vintage items, transforming previously loved furniture to sell them in her new retail space.

Ready to bite the bullet on home decorating when we move, it’s wonderful to see that your process is about color, lists, and piece by piece, not all at once! That’s comforting…and helpful! 🙂
Swinging over from Ducks n a Row!
No room {or anything else for that matter} is built in a day. Take your time and enjoy the process of making your new home your own.
