As a kindergarten teacher, one of the best days of the year was always Valentine’s Day. I wish I could have bottled the sweetness of the day as they carefully passed out their cards or candy.
Valentine’s Day is important to little people.
Teacher’s love Valentine’s Day too. Between both of the boys, there are five teachers who I would like to give a small Valentine gift. But any gift I give needs to be cheap. And easy.
During Tootsie’s nap time (the one when she used her crib as a trampoline instead of a bed), I created this beauty.
The project started with these supplies. Our family goes through the “Crystal Light” drink mix like crazy. I saved the empty containers *just* in case I might use them one day. The chocolates were picked up during an after Christmas sale. I found the cute Valentine’s Day printables online.
But quickly realized the printables were not going to work. They were too big. Sigh.
On to Plan B.
Why not make felt flowers? They are fun and easy. A little bit addicting.
Here’s my so-not-a-professional tutorial for felt roses.

Cut the felt into a wavy strip then begin the rose by tightly rolling the center gluing all the way.

After making the center, begin to twist the strip of felt to create the petals. Secure the petals with small dots of hot glue.
Next I wrapped a ribbon around the top of the container. Then finished it up by adding a green leaf and a rose.
My boys are already itching to get their hands on them. They want to eat the candy.
Now I’m off to snuggle my little greenwood’s in bed. But not before I hide these.
Happy Valentine’s to all my teacher friends out there!
