Yesterday sweetness arrived in my mailbox.
It came in a scrawly handwritten note from my Georgia Grandmother.
It was a thank you note for the pin I had made for Mother’s Day. I knew that handmade, simple birdsnest pin would be a more suitable gift for her than smelly lotion or a new purse or anything else I could come up with.
You see my Georgia Grandmother is a very creative, crafty lady. Even though my South Carolina Grandmother took all the credit for my dining room redo, she’s only half the story. I got a huge dose of my paint slapping, fabric gathering Georgia Grandmother in me too.
For that I am grateful. I am blessed she took the time to send me a real note. She is the mother of nine children, 29 (I think) grandchildren, and I’m not even going to try to count the great grand babies. Grandma has celebrated each birthday with a card and a sweet note. And always stickers for the children to peel.
Think for a moment about whose day you could brighten with a note. I’ve already got my person picked.
