In less than a month our oldest son will turn eleven and enter the world of tween-dom. But for today Big Boy, his best friend furry friend, and I had a day together thanks to PetSmart and Purina® Pro Plan®.
The day started as a regular school day. Lots of rushing around to make it out the door in time and excitement over the day’s field trip to his new middle school.
You may have seen on Instagram this picture of us on a school bus going to open house at his middle school he will attend next year. Shout out to all the bus drivers out there! I’m a kindergarten teacher/lion tamer extraordinaire but could never do that job!
The field trip was quite an eye opener for him and me. We were able to tour the middle school and speak with a few of the teachers. He was a bit nervous at the thought of lockers and making it to classes on time. Of course, all that flew out the window when he visited the science lab and saw the word “robotics” in a station.
Any mother with more than one child knows that time alone with each is very precious. Being the oldest of three doesn’t leave a lot of one-on-one Mama time. Especially with a sassy little sister in the mix.
So after the middle school field trip I surprised Big Boy with a little extra special field trip to one of his favorite places: PetSmart.
A quick stop home for his best furry friend and we were on our way! Did you know that leashed, well behaved dogs were welcome at PetSmart? That is the coolest thing ever to our son! He loves bringing our dog, Barley, with us as we shop for pet supplies.
I appreciate how well organized the store is for busy mamas. Barley loves Purina® Pro Plan® and has for years. Purina is the first dry dog food brand to use and be founded on the idea of real meat as the #1 ingredient to help promote total body health. I love that every high quality ingredient is chosen for a specific purpose.
Big Boy and Barley quickly found exactly the type of Purina® Pro Plan® we were looking for on an endcap. Since a part of his daily chores is to feed the dog, he also helps to decide what type of would be best for her.
There is also a huge selection on the aisle.
Before we leave our son has to choose a new toy for Barley to play with. The toy is actually for both of them to play with in the backyard. Once homework is finished all three of the children enjoy time throwing and running with Barley.
Visit the Purina® Pro Plan® MyPLAN website to get your dog’s MyPLAN recommendation and a rebate offer for a free bag of Purina® Pro Plan® Dry Dog Food (4-6lbs, up to $18.99.)
Good only in U.S.A. A.P.O’s, F.P.O’s. Void where taxed, prohibited, restricted. Allow 6-8 weeks for shipment. LIMIT ONE REQUEST PER INDIVIDUAL, ADDRESS, or EMAIL ADDRESS. Offer expires 04/30/2015. See full terms.
Not too long ago spending the afternoon at the pet store wouldn’t have sounded like too much fun to me. Add a few years and one growing boy to the mix and it becomes the perfect day! Thanks so much to PetSmart for allowing us to shop with our sweet dog. Another big thank you to Purina® Pro Plan® for helping to keep our furry family member happy!

My niece loves to bring our dog to PetSmart too- she has a blast letting her interact with the other dogs and enjoying all the attention from the employees! #client
What a fun day to share with your son! I can only imagine how nervous he was as he toured the middle school, but what a nice surprise to have a dog day afternoon afterwards. They grow up so fast – boys and dogs! They are both too cute!
That looks like fun! We love Petsmart… will have to look into that food for our dogs.
Our children adore taking our dog shopping at PetSmart! And looking at the fish! Mustn’t forget those. 😉
