Like most families we strive to eat healthier dinners that include fish at least once a week. One of our favorites is grilled salmon paired with wild rice and black beans. Even our picky little children will gobble up this dinner!
Since honey loves to grill so much I wanted to share his Tips and Tricks for Grilling the Perfect Salmon Fillet using Gourmet Grillware.
Begin with a fresh fillet of salmon {3-4 pounds}. Our local grocery store and SAMS Club typically has these in stock. The fish should be firm to the touch and not smell fishy.
To stretch our grocery budget farther half the fillet to make two meals.
A great seasoning is a must. We love Chef Paul Prudhomme’s Magic Salmon Seasoning. It a little bit sweet with a touch of spice. Spray each side of the fillet with non-stick spray then coat each side generously with the Magic Salmon Seasoning.
Honey really enjoys cooking with the Gourmet Grillware Fish Griller. It heats evenly and keeps the grill grids completely clean.
The grillware and salmon were placed directly on the hot grill. About 10 minutes at 375 degrees is all it takes for the salmon to reach a medium/well consistency.
The salmon will be just right when buttery fat skimmers to the top of the fillet and out of the ends. This will leave a moist center with a flaky outside.
Gourmet Grillware did a great job of evenly cooking the fish but did cook quickly than the cedar planks Honey normally uses to grill salmon. That was good news for our hungry kiddos!
Not only was cooking with the Gourmet Grillware Fish Griller easy, the clean up was a snap! Just a quick clean with dish soap and hot water was all it took. Please keep in mind these pieces are not dish washer safe.
Honey was very happy with the performance of the griller. The dish heated evenly and did a great job of cooking the fish. Once off the grill the griller kept the fish warm while I finished up dinner.
Honey’s Tips for Grilling the Perfect Salmon
- Non-stick spray with help adhere seasonings to the fillet plus prevent sticking to cooking surfaces
- For best flavor, apply seasoning generously.
- The fillet has reached medium once the white fat appears on the top. The more fat you see, the more well done the fillet will be.
See that one small bite leftover? Little Boy ran back through the kitchen right after I snapped the picture to snatch it up. It makes my heart happy that our children to actually eat more nutritious things than chicken nuggets on occasion. 😉
I’m hoping these Tips for Grilling the Perfect Salmon has tempted your taste buds and inspired you to step outside to light the grill. If there are any tips you would like to share, please leave a comment. I love hearing from my readers!
