The meatballs’ saucy, yummy goodness was delicious on their own but we kicked it up a notch by creating a pizza topping bar to go with the slow cooker recipe.
Our guests loved adding their own green olives, banana peppers, and red pepper flakes on top of their meatballs.
This easy crock pot recipe was a hit at our last Football Party! Preparing, cooking, and serving the recipe in a slow cooker made the Meatball Pizza Bake a perfect football snack.

I simply warmed the meatballs in the slow cooker then added cooked pasta to the meatballs. Super easy and so yummy!

Sounds like a great recipe for game day for sure. Love how easy it is, especially! I pinned it and the game day party ideas post, too. 😉
This meatball pizza bake is one of our family favorites! I love how simple it is to make one a busy weeknight.
When putting everything in the crockpot, are the meatballs frozen? Thawed? Cooked? Thanks.
The meatballs are frozen. Hope this helps!
Mine was frozen turned out great
About how many people does this recipe serve? Serving it at my work holiday party this year cause it looks amazing!
Hey Kristine!
I love taking these meatballs to my office parties! It usually feeds about 8-10 people. Hope this helps!
We made this last night and it was amazing! I would love to know thr nutritional value for the meal. Calories, catbs, fat…
Hey Heather! Thank you so much for leaving a comment. Unfortunately, I’m not a dietitian so I can’t answer those questions. But this is such a yummy recipe – so happy you loved it as much as we do!
Is this keto safe? Thanks
Hey Stacey! Thank you so much for leaving a comment. Unfortunately, I’m not a dietitian so I can’t answer that questions. But this is such a yummy recipe. I hope you give it a try!
As long as you use keto friendly meatballs and sauce you will be fine! I’m doing keto and making it for dinner tonight. Something my whole family will love.
I Just found your recipe and it looks terrific! I’m going to be trying it soon. I will be making my own meatballs, though. About how many meatballs do you get in those 4 packages of frozen ones? I want to make sure I make enough!
Thanks!
Hey Sandra! Thank you so much for leaving a comment. I’m not sure how many meatballs are included in each bag. I’ll try to remember to check the number the next time I make this yummy recipe for my family.
When you say “chopped pepperoni” how small should they be? I see in your pictures they are the precut circles but I’m assuming you put those on as a topping.
Just found your recipe and it looks terrific! I’m going to be trying it soon.
This is a new family favorite! Thanks so much for sharing. I have it in the crockpot now and have made it at least 3 times since finding it on Pinterest. So good!
What if I only wanted to make half. Do I just use half of the recipe
Sure! Simply half the recipe to make a smaller amount. Enjoy!
Is 4 – 12 oz bags correct? It just seems like a LOT of meatballs. How many does this serve? Thanks!
This recipe does make a lot of meatballs but my family of family loves them. If we have leftovers I use them to make meatball sandwiches or add to spaghetti. Thanks so much for visiting my blog!
This looks amazing and easy! Making this to try for sure! Hubby and kiddo will love!
Frozen meatballs actually have bread crumbs in them. It’s how you make meatballs. Bread crumbs. So this isn’t low carb. I would imagine you would have to make your own meatballs (um no!) or search high and low to find a meatball with no bread crumbs in it! (Good luck)
You are so right! I never thought of the meatballs having bread crumbs.
My meat balls that I bought at the store are 6 carbs! That’s low carb if you ask me! If not LOW then lower than other meals I would eat! Very excited to try this healthy family friendly meal! Thank you!
I just took my beef breakfast sausage and made them into balls for meat balls nothing else! So low carb for me and I made my own sauce added xylitol to sweeten a little and added turkey pepperoni mushroom and onions. Can’t wait to try it!
This looks great! I make our meatballs using almond flour so that it is keto friendly. 🙂 Just thought I would mention that. I will have to do this for our large family. They love meatballs.
Thank you for sharing. I’m making this for our Christmas Eve pot luck at work as well as other toppings served with regular and keto breads. I’ll be using Simply Ragu (low sugar) for the sauce.
Are the meatballs cooked?
Hey Terri!
I used frozen, precooked meatballs in this dish. Happy cooking!
can I freeze this after I cook it?
Sure. It should be great in the freezer!
How long will this last in the freezer once you’ve cooked the meatball pizza bake in your crockpot?
I would think the meatballs would be good for a few weeks in the freezer. Thanks so much for your question!
Hi! This looks amazing! I have it in my slow cooker now to have tonight with some spaghetti! In the pictures, what cheeses do you use?
Hey Lauren! This one of our favorite dinners and I usually top it with mozzeralla and cheddar. Hope you enjoy it!
I’ve been on keto for awhile, coming up with good and satisfying meal ideas can be a challenge. This is one of my favorite keto meals. It’s also easy and liked by my husband and kids (paired with egg noodles for them). Thank you!
I made garlic bread and served the meatballs on too like an open faced sandwich. It was very good.
Since this is called “Meatball Pizza Bake” wouldn’t this taste good with using pizza sauce and shredded pizza cheese instead of pasta sauce and regular shredded cheese, just a thought.
