Since pink and purple have exploded all over the house, the front door was not to be neglected. But because her party is working on a shoestring of a budget whatever was going up must be cheap frugal.

TADA! A Sofia the First Wreath for $5!

How to Make a Sofia the First Wreath: Supplies Needed

  • foam pool noodle
  • duct tape
  • white fabric – FREE (leftover sheet from other project)
  • push pins
  • 2″ scalloped paper punch*
  • patterned paper – $3 (Hobby Lobby on sale)
  • grosgrain ribbon – $2 (Hobby Lobby on sale)
  • hot glue gun

How to Make a Sofia the First Wreath: Instructions

To get started shape the pool noodle into a circle and secure it with masking or duct tape. Wrap that sucker up tight with lots of tape or your circle may pop apart. Trust me.

I used a white sheet cut into strips to cover the wreath. But you could use a plastic tablecloth. Push pins are my favorite way to attach the fabric. They allow me to strip the noodle wreath down easy to be reused.

Next you will need to make several sizes of paper pinwheels to place on the fabric covered wreath.

Princess Paper Pinwheels

How to Make Paper Pinwheels

To begin you will need pink polka dot scrapbooking paper and other coordinating papers. Take two pieces of paper measuring 12″ x 3″. Make small accordion folds along each piece. My folds were less than 1/2″ wide.

Glue to two folded pieces together to create a circle.

DIY paper medallions

Smush the circle down to form the paper pinwheel. Yes, “smush” is a technical term in the South. 😉

Punch out circles using a 2″ scalloped paper punch*. Use the circles and hot glue to secure the paper pinwheel into place.

Then added cutsie Sofia the First and a “Happy Birthday Princess” printables to each of my accordion folded flowers. I punched out all of these adorable printables using the 2″ scalloped paper punch*

Thank you so much Peonies and Poppyseeds and blog Seven Thirty Three. I am very grateful both these fantastic blogs created and shared their great Sofia the First printables for free!

What a fun way to welcome our royal guests! Tootsie loved helping to hang her Sofia the First Wreath on our front door.

Hey! Stopping by Vi’s the Chic and Crafty party- Sofia caught my eye since Disney Junior is my daughters latest obsession ( she’s more of a Doc McStuffins fan) I think I like Sofia more than she does!! Such a cute party theme, the wreath is great!

I’m having trouble with making a wreath similar to yours! What type of glue did you use and how did you attach the circles on the back to hold it down. Mine keep falling apart!

Hey Amber! I used hot glue to attach the paper pinwheels to the fabric wrapped wreath. Let me know if you have any more questions. I love that you are making your own wreath!
