How to Make Party Pom Poms: Supplies
yarn
scissors
Yep. Three supplies are all you need to make huge party pom poms.
I pick up my tablecloths from our local discount store but you can order any color under the rainbow. {Click here} to find one that perfectly matchs your party theme!
How to Make Party Pom Poms: Instructions
Spread out the tablecloth but do not unfold it. You will have a long skinny rectangle. I cut a foot wide section off the end to start my first pompom.
Slide the scissors along the edges to cut any seams.
Next accordion fold the stacked pieces. Tie in half with a piece of yarn or string.
Then shape the pompom by spreading the plastic sheets apart.
Pompoms will hang from several spots. Here’s the chandy in the dining room.
I used this technique to make a plastic pompom garland for the cake table.
Simply tie a bunch of smaller pom poms to yarn or string.
Yarn Pompom Garland
Pink yarn is all you need for this garland. Simple create small pompoms by wrapping your fingers with yarn. Tie the middle of your bundle. Then snip the looped ends. Use another piece of yarn to attach the pompom to a long length of yarn to create the garland.
Circle Paper Garland
For this garland you will need lots and lots of circles. I collected all the pink and purple scrapbook papers I could find from my stash then purchased a few new patterns from Hobby Lobby on sale. My 2″ scalloped edge circle punch made quick work of all those circles. (Did you know you can sharpen your metal punches using tinfoil?)
Make this garland by creating a three sided circle shape. To do this you will need to fold three circles in half. Glue the folded half of two circles together. Then add one more folded circle. Place the yarn inside and secure it with a dot of hot glue. Use more glue to close the three sided circle shape.
Ruffled Edge Garland
I fell in love with Cupcakes and Cutlery’s Ruffled Streamers. They are an easy addition to our princess party. Best of all… they are super cheap!
Just cut a plastic tablecloth into long strips. My strips were about 3″ wide. Next use your thumbs to gently stretch the edges of the plastic strip. Be careful not to pull too hard or you will rip the edge.
The ruffled streamers and paper circle garland look great behind Tootsie’s princess castle.
Warning: Ruffle Garlands can cause blisters! Oh, what we do for a pretty party.
