Beat summer boredom with this post for How to Plan Summer Fun Ideas for Kids!
Hey everyone, I’m Ashley!
You can usually find me on my blog whipping up homemade curtain rods, colorful seasonal door hangers, or maybe even a scrumptious crock pot recipe or two.
Along with being a blogger I am also a mama of three and a preschool teacher, I know a thing or two about keeping little ones entertained during the long days of summer.
By now there is a good chance that Summer Boredom has set in at your house. To battle the gaming zombies and Nerf gun wars I am sharing tips for How to Plan Summer Fun Ideas.
How to Plan Summer Fun Ideas
Tip #1 – Ask Your Children
Seriously.
Before you even think about planning any summer fun ideas, ask your kiddos what they would like to do. My children always want to see at least one summer movie, visit the trampoline park, and have lots of pool time. Involving them in the planning will insure they are more engaged in the activity!
Tip #2 – Plan FREE {or really cheap} Activities
Think about what your area has to offer that is free. Maybe it’s a storytime event at the park, a $1 summer movie, or a splash pad. Each of these places would offer summer fun for very little cost.
One idea that my children really love is hosting an epic playdate party at our home. Each child invites one favorite friend to play all afternoon. This usually keeps everyone happy for at least one day. Usually those mothers repay the favor by asking my children over for a playdate too.
Tip #3 – Make it Educational
It’s always nice when we can mix a little bit of fun with learning. Is there a museum, state park, or art gallery nearby?
Our children love to visit a nearby state park. It’s a great location for a family hike or a picnic. Pack a lunch, put on some comfy shoes, and head out to the great outdoors!
Check your local listings for free art classes. Local galleries may hold free lessons or host a kid’s day once a month. Do your homework and see what’s out there!
How to Plan Summer Fun Ideas Schedule
Just to have a little bit more structure to the week it is a great day to make the days “themed”. Here is how I like to organize the summer.
Monday – Art Project
Tuesday – Field Trip
Wednesday – Water Day {pool, splash pad, or neighborhood lake}
Thursday – Kid Friendly Recipe
Friday – Leave Mama Alone Day {We are tired of entertaining you people!}
Just in case you were wondering, Friday is my favorite day! 😉
