We had a glorious day at the Steeplechase races last weekend! It was a wonderful time spent watching the horses, eating awesome food, and enjoying great friends.
So with our program in hand we were off to the races!
Before the races begin there is The Carriage Parade. We love seeing the antique carriages with their decked out owners prancing around the track.
Just look at those ponies pulling the wooden carriage!
In case you may not know, a steeplechase is a race for Thoroughbred horses over fences or hedges. Watching the horses pound the plush green turf and soar over the fences is such a thrill!
The main focus are the splendid horses but you can’t help to notice the beautiful hats. Next year I have got to get one!
The races are a very family friendly event. But Honey and I would rather help pay for our babysitter’s first year of college than chase three children all day. 😉
A special thanks to my talented friend Marilyn Oliveros with Paisa Photography for helping to document the day by sharing her photographs with me! Please visit her on Facebook and show her some comment love!
Your comments totally make my day! They give me huge motivation to keep creating and having fun with my 3 Little Greenwoods!
I link up with these fun parties!
Love the cute green nails holding the racing program!
My pretty green nails were a leftover from St. Patrick’s Day but they looked so good with my pastel outfit! 😉
spent some winters training horses in Aiken, my wife and I completely fell in love with the area, the people very friendly food great. Hitchcock Woods an amazing place for a stroll. Thanx for sharing your pics brought back great memories.

Looks like a fun day. I would probably go just to see all the gorgeous hats!
Thanks for sharing,
Suzanne
People watching is our favorite thing to do! The hats and dresses were so pretty this year.
Loving: the nails, the program, the hats and that necklace you’re wearing. You two are so cute together! Yes you should get a hat for next year! Those carriages WOW! I agree I would rather not chase after little ones and go with hubs alone! 😀
Thanks so much for loving my nails and necklace. Pretty {cheap} jewelry is my thing! And the races were so much more fun without chasing children. 😉
Looks like it was a great day and lots to watch and just relax with your honey! Loved the pictures! Thanks for sharing.
It was a great day to spend with Honey! We had a wonderful time. Maybe next year the little peeps will get to come watch the horses race. 😉
What a fun day! I found you on the pickled okra blog party, and I’m so glad I stopped by! I blog about my travels and would love it if you dropped by for a visit!

Thanks so stopping by Karan! I’m following along on your blog to see what adventures you have next. 😉
Ashley, this looks like a really fun time! The closest we had something to horse racing in Utah was just over the state line into Wyoming. Now they don’t do it anymore. It looks very entertaining… especially the fun lady hats!
People watching on Race Day is the best! Thanks so much for leaving me some comment love!
