1. Heavy duty wire cutters

A pair of heavy duty wire cutters are a must for cutting apart floral and greenery bushes. Don’t waste your time on the cute pink ones from Hobby Lobby.

Instead get in a pair like these Husky Cutting Pliers. They are my favorite and less than $10.

2. Electric glue skillet

These little skillets aren’t just for cooking!

They are a quick and easy way to melt a lot of glue for wreath making. Simply continue to add hot glue sticks, wait for them to melt, and dip your florals into the melted glue. There’s no need to clean out old glue. You just keep adding more glue sticks as needed.

Plus they leave your hands free to design instead of holding a glue gun.

Here’s the one I use daily: 8” Electric Skillet with Adjustable Temp Controls

3. E-Z Bow Maker

This bow making tool is a lifesaver! No more stressing over making bows by hand or struggling to hold onto ribbon while your hand cramps. The E-Z Bow Maker is the answer to your problems.

4. Wreath Easel

There’s no need to purchase an expensive wreath easel. I use a wooden art easel from Hobby Lobby (similar to this one) on top of my wreath worktable.

If you are in the market for a heavy duty wreath easel then you might want to check out these from a great Etsy seller:

5. Hand held steamer

This little gem is a game changer! It will take your florals from flat to fabulous in only a few minutes.

Simply use the steamer to plump up flowers and smooth out wrinkled leaves. Here’s the one I use every day: Small Hand Held Steamer.

6. Large Silicone Mat

Having a large silicone mat covering your wreath worktable will protect it from all those hot glue drops and dribbles we all have.

This Extra Large Silicone Mat for Crafting is perfect for covering your table.

7. Sharp Scissors

If you are cutting ribbon then a great pair of sharp scissors is a must. No one wants jagged edges ribbon tails on their bows!

Just remember… scissors don’t stay sharp for long and need to be replaced as needed.

Here’s a pack of 3 scissors that I love to use.

8. Bind Wire

After years of using pipe cleaners (or chenille stems) to make my wreaths and bows I finally discovered bind wire.

Game Changer!

Now I don’t have to twist pipe cleaners together to make them long or worry about them breaking part.

I simply cut the bind wire to the length I need and move on with my creation. Easy Peasy!

I recommend this set of 4 different sizes of bind wire to get you started.

9. Zipties

I know I was just raving about bind wire but zip ties are what I use to pull each wreath bow nice and tight. That makes each bow loop stand up and look gorgeous!

You will probably has to try out a few different lengths and widths of zipties before you get the ones right for you. I love using these 8″ clear zipties from Amazon.

10. Gorilla Hot Glue Sticks

I almost didn’t include these but I know you are wondering what type of glue to put in your glue skillet. Gorilla Glue sticks are the best for holding your wreaths together in all sorts of wreath.

You can find them in lots of stores but I usually save myself the trouble and get them HERE.

These are MUST HAVE tools for wreath making. Perfect for a setting up a wreath workshop or a beginning wreath maker wanting to make a DIY wreath.

I hope this list has helped you. Please let me know if you have any questions or want to share one of your favorite wreath making tools and tips!

There are many blogs about making wreaths, but none of them specifically mention the tools needed to make them. Fortunately, I came across this blog. Thank you for disseminating this information.
