DIY Valentine Door Hanger ~ Instructions
Step One: Make a Large Heart from Foam Core
Trace a large heart shape on the foam core. Cut out the shape using a retractable knife or a serrated kitchen knife (my favorite).
Step Two: Cover the Heart with Streamers
Start at the bottom point of the heart shape and hot glue one edge of the streamer onto the shape. Scrunching that glued edge together will create the ruffle. Just remember they don’t call it HOT glue for nothing!
That’s why I love this hot glue gun!
It can be set for high or low temp and it has saved my fingers many times since my old glue gun blew up.
Seriously ~ the thing went “pow” and began to smoke like crazy!
Continue all around the heart making two rows of each color. Once you reach the center simple add an extra layer of streamer to finish it off.
Step Four: Add a Ribbon for Hanging the Heart Shaped Door Hanger
Add a ribbon to the back for hanging and you are all set!
Crafting Tip: Use a blow dryer to melt all the spidery hot glue strands away!
Super colorful and oh so fluffy! This Heart Shaped Door Hanger has been used several times in our home decor and as DIY party decor.
It was a fabulous centerpiece at the children’s “We Heart Art” Valentine’s Day Party!
