All these articles about decluttering your home and only keeping items that bring you joy have given me craft-hoarding guilt. They have kept me from one of my favorite places ~ the thrift store.
Each day I drive by reminding myself there’s a small room in my house filled with potential projects. I do not need anything else to add to the oh-I-really-need-this thrift store pile. But one day last week I couldn’t help myself. Thank goodness I made that turn because I found the most amazing pinecone wreath!
Well… the pinecone wreath wasn’t exactly amazing but let me show you how to make a fall wreath from this thrift store find. Instead of a sad Christmas decoration it is now a White Pumpkin Pinecone Wreath that is perfect for a fall mantel.
Here’s my fabulous find. A slightly beat up pinecone wreath decorated straight from the early 90’s.
I’ve had my eye on pinecone wreaths for a while now. They are quite pricey and way over my budget. So with a price tag of $7 there was no way I could leave this beauty on the shelf.
I could have made my own DIY pinecone wreath but just look at all the wire on the back of this wreath. It would take me forever to recreate this.
The first step in transforming the pinecone wreath was to carefully remove all the Christmas decorations. Of course, I could not throw away the little birdies. I told you I was a craft hoarder.
Next I grabbed small faux pumpkins from the Dollar Store and changed them into white pumpkins with the help of cream and leaf green craft paint.
Once the white pumpkins were dry I added them to wreath using craft wire. The sweet little green pinecones came from our Thanksgiving tablescape last year. I love the pop of color they add. Plus the painted pinecones are a perfect match of the green striped ribbon.
The bow was made from wide, wired cloth ribbon using the easiest bow making technique ever!
The White Pumpkin Pinecone Wreath is a fresh addition to my DIY fall decor. How to make a fall wreath is a snap thanks to a fantastic thrift store find and a few handpainted white pumpkins!
I’m ditching traditional fall colors this year in favor of whites and greens. The new White Pumpkin Pinecone Wreath is the star and I can’t wait to reveal the entire fall mantel soon!

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much Kim!
Ashley, this is an awesome thrift store find! I can’t imagine how long it would take to wire all those pine coves on! Yikes. So what a wonderful find! I’m loving the non-traditional Christmas colors, too! Thanks for sharing.
