Tiered Oyster Tray

Coastal style is all the rage. Even though Honey loves to remind me we don’t live at the beach, I am drawn to this laid back decorating style. Slowly but surely I am changing over our beige, brown house to cool beachy blues.

During the after Valentine’s Day at Target I found this little plastic beauty. It was $9.99 but marked 90% off. That’s 98 cents, people! oyster tray @3littlegreenwoods.com

The reason it was the only surviving tray was a big ole crack on the bottom. When I asked the sales clerk about the crack, she took 10% more of the cost. That’s how I ended up paying 88 cents!oyster tray @3littlegreenwoods.com

The cracked-up tray got a coat of Krylon for Plastics in Gloss White. oyster tray @3littlegreenwoods.com

Next I got to work puzzling together oyster shells for the top. The goal was to completely cover the cutesy hearts. As always, hot glue is my best buddy!oyster tray @3littlegreenwoods.com

Once you have the top covered, give it a coat of spray poly to bring out the true colors of the shells.

Isn’t she pretty? No crack in sight! oyster tray @3littlegreenwoods.com

88 cents! That is all it cost to make this pretty two tiered tray with oystersoyster tray @3littlegreenwoods.com

It’s a perfect starting point for my front porch. Now I really have to start hunting up some other pretties to go with it.

Hope you are inspired to create something of your own!

What a great buy and a great transformation. I grew up on the Gulf Coast, and my dad would shuck oysters in the backyard. Naturally I have a fondness for all things oyster. Your shells are gorgeous! What pretty layers! Have a great 4th!

I love oyster shells too! Hitting them with a coat of poly really brought out the colors. Luck for us we are only a few hours from the beach. I collected all my shells from the South Carolina coast. Thanks so much for hopping over!

Very clever, and .88! Wow! I have been longing for a tiered stand and refuse to pay the Pottery Barn prices, I will have to take inspiration from you and get creative!

Thanks so much! For .88 I couldn’t leave that tray on the shelf (even with the crack)! Love all the yumminess I see on your blog. My husband would love the “Serious Steak with herb butter” you made for Father’s Day.

      Take care! Ashley
