My sweet girl is happily chatting and stomping her plastic princess shoes away from babyhood. Some days I can actually see her growing.
Even though the nights that she let’s us rock her before bed are coming fewer and far between, I cannot give up on our Rock-a-baby Corner.
This sweet spot in Tootsie’s room got a mini-face lift this weekend with the help of spray paint. And a few pieces of original artwork by her great-grandmothers.
It all started with these walnut stained shelves. They were hidden in my disaster of a craft room.
A coat of Krylon Gloss White spray paint did the trick.
Country to Classic.
This little guy’s name is Beebo. He belongs to Big Boy but looks at home high on the shelf (instead of under his bed). 😉
My Georgia Grandma created the watercolor painting. The bright colors of the little bunting pop in the newly painted pink frame. Krylon “Ballet Slipper” Gloss is so pretty!
The princess rosette and the yarn pompom garlands are from Tootsie’s Sofia the First birthday party. Â She is still talking about the Princess Cake that fell over. Poor baby girl!
This lovely young lady is my Mema. She is the proud owner of the dress pants turned Fall Monogrammed Wreath and the inspiration for the Red Barn Mantel. My goal is to have a photograph if each of her great-grandmothers and grandmothers in her bedroom. Maybe a few vintage photographs of her aunties, too.
It tickles my Mema that I am hanging her paintings in our house. She still swears each one of them is awful.
I adore this little girl daydreaming beside the stream.
The truth is that there may always be a Rock-a-baby corner in this house. Even when there are no babies to rock in it.
We will think about that another day.

What a beautiful little corner, it’s so hard to let those baby years go. I kept the rocker in my daughters room well past the time we actually needed, so special.
It is hard to let those baby years go. I’m holding on as long as I can. 😉
Thanks for visiting!
Ashley
I love this darling rocking corner! Not only is it beautiful, but I love how you have pieces that hold so much meaning for you and your family. Wonderful, wonderful job, Ashley! Hope you’re having a wonderful week!

Hi Ashley! Isn’t it amazing how some fresh glossy white spray paint can change the look of things! I love your precious little corner… that painting is so special too. Thanks so much for sharing this at the Get Your DIY On Challenge: Spray Paint. Hope to see you back today at 7pm EST – bring along a chalkboard project or two!

What a sweet post! I love how you are using your grandmother’s paintings and pictures in your home, esp in your children’s bedrooms. They are our legacy, after all! And I agree that a rocking chair is a requirement long after the babies are grown 🙂
Keep sharing!!

It tickles my grandmother that her paintings are all over my house! And I’m not sure I can ever part with that squeaky rocking chair.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Thank you so much, Suzan! I love giving Tootsie a little extra rocking. When she lets me! 😉
Happy crafting!
