The hunt for the perfect kitchen hutch is serious business. It has be small enough to fit in my kitchen alcove that desperately needs some Hutch Love!
So when I heard there was a two households combined into one estate sale downtown I begged a friend to join in on my quest. It is always fun to go digging through people’s treasures!
As soon as we entered the building my eye was immediately drawn to this grand mahogany secretary desk. The crown molding and faceted glass doors were absolutely beautiful.
Unfortunately, the $500 price tag was way out of my budget. The desk was also a bit too fancy pants for my humble kitchen alcove. Sigh.
A wall full of sparkling crystal was the next place I looked. Thanks to my grandmother’s house downsizing I already have enough glassware to start my own store. But look at those gorgeously tall lamps!
I was just a teeny bit tickled at the old ladies gawking at my iPhone picture taking session. Bet half my small Southern town heard about that for the rest of the day. 🙂
Here is yet another very formal piece with a silver tea set. Fancy smancy!
These cross stitched Revolutionary War soldiers would be awesome in a little boys bedroom.
Oh Mama! Look at those pillows! Talk about making your day happy!
I quickly grabbed both of them before one of those older ladies decided she needed some color in her life.
The small sign stated each pillow was $3 ~ unless marked otherwise. Of course, the ones I wanted weren’t $3. But I didn’t think $10 for both was a bad deal.
Right now my new pillows are adding some much needed color to the bench in my foyer.
They look ridiculous paired with the formal rug but come summertime they will be living the high life on my front porch swing.
Hope you enjoyed my estate sale shopping! Now I’ve got to check Craigslist one more time before the children get home from school. You never know when the CL Fairies might post something perfect and awesomely cheap for me to buy!
Your comments totally make my day! They give me huge motivation to keep creating and having fun with my 3 Little Greenwoods!
I link up with these fun parties!

Hey Kris! I am going to have to redo the entire front porch to do justice to those brightly patterned pillows. So pretty!
I would have snatched those pillows too! I love the colors and pillows are pricey so I think you got a great deal. I can’t wait for sales to start here! We need better weather first! I am itching to get out!
I’m so ready to yard sale weather too! We keep getting teases of warm spring weather (75 degrees) then are hit with 35 degree days again. Love the card your daughter made with Cardstore. Too cute!
Stopping by from Katherine’s Corner for the blog hop. So jealous that you can estate/yard/garage sale at this time of the year! Here in Montana we are still digging out from the snow. I love these pillows and the way they scream SUMMER!!!
Cheers, Sue
I was lucky that the estate sale was inside instead out of in the cold! The weather man is calling for 75degrees here on Saturday. I’m crossing my fingers he is right!
I’d love for you to follow along with 3 Little Greenwoods!
How fun!!! Wish we lived close, you’d never have to drag me to find pillows like those!! And I love those needle stitched framed soldiers!
Hey Sweet Girl! So happy that you are feeling better enough to blog again. Wish you lived closer too! It would be so fun to shop for bloggy projects together!
I love estate sales so much. I have become quite talented at finding goodies… surprising goodies.
I use my finds for my art, so I have an especially fun time looking at things and thinking what can be done with them. I love collecting linens and dishes, especially.
I would like books, but I have a ridiculously cheap source for books – under 10 cents for vintage. 🙂
I’m pinning this one!
