How to Make a Cork Letter

So I am finally jumping on the initial bandwagon. You know – big chunky letters placed in wall groupings or on tables? They are everywhere.

We have a large collection of wine corks. 😉 So I thought I could whip up a large capital G in no time.

Most tutorials encourage you use a premade cardboard letter. These can be bought at any craft store. But I didn’t have one so I decided to wing it.

First I traced a capital G from the computer screen. No one (me) can remember to buy another ink cartridge.SONY DSC

Next I arranged the corks where I wanted. Some have a pretty red wine stain on them. Thanks, Honey!SONY DSC

Start gluing the corks together to made the letter. Then pick it up to admire your work and… ut oh!SONY DSC

Well that didn’t work! Turns out you do need a cardboard letter to hold all the corks together.

So off to the recycling bin I went to find a box to made a cardboard back for my letter. Cut it out and start the process again.SONY DSC

My super duper chunky capital G cost me nothing! And it is going to look very nice on the mantel.
