Vignettes are all “the thing ” on DIY decorating blogs. Basically that’s a fancy word for creating a small scene with objects to tell a story. It encourages you to be thoughtful in your choosing and placement.
Unfortunately for the past nine years most of our table tops have been barren of anything that might resemble a vignette. No picture frames, precious collectibles, or flowers. It was impossible to keep all those chubby baby hands off my stuff.
But I think (fingers crossed) that we’ve finally reached the stage where I can display a nice grouping of things without fearing their demise within 10 minutes.
Here’s my beachy, summertime table top.
Shopping the house was a must because I’ve got zero budget and dragging my 3 little people out to shop is… well, I’d rather go to the dentist.
One of my favorite lamps got a coat of glossy white spray paint and a new burlap shade.
This pumpkin glass jar truly got a Cinderella makeover. I filled it with sand and shells from our June beach trip. Thank goodness you can’t see the jack-o-lantern face on the back.
A wooden cigar box was given a white stripe with a few shells attached.
This table top of pretties definitely says summertime. It reminds me of my favorite place and the little hands that helped gather it all.
So far everything has stayed in place. Except for that one shell Big Boy just *had* to touch. Nothing that a little hot glue can’t fix.
I love to share my projects with these fabulous blogs:

I love the tropical theme. The lamp looks amazing painted and the vase of shells and perfect. Very pretty. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
Thanks so much Marti! I still can’t get over how you “Turned Tacky into Gold”. Those pups look amazing!
Take care,
Ashley
