Welcome to our home for the Inspiring Summer House Tour! I am so excited to be joining over 20 amazing bloggers to show off our homes!
If you haven’t been following along this week, please check out the links at the end of this post because you won’t want to miss out on their fabulous homes. But first come by my home for a visit!
Welcome! We are all decked out for the lazy days of summer and are so happy you have joined us!
Right now we are getting ready for the Fourth of July holiday with my Star Spangled Door Decor. It’s my take on creating a patriotic project or recipe without using the traditional red, white and blue color scheme! Go {here} for a tutorial on my Star Spangled Door.
Each summer the flower boxes are filled with easy to grow annuals such as geraniums, petunias, creeping jenny, and vinca vine. They add great curb appeal with their wonderful colors.
But there’s a spot at the end of the porch that’s our favorite.
We have a huge hammock swing that is a wonderful place to relax. This is where the children read and the grown-ups reconnect. Some days I sneak out there sometimes with my morning coffee for quiet time. Or hide from the children. 😉
Come on inside to see my light and airy dining room! After a little DIY’ing and a great paint color, the room went from drab brown to a bright, cherry space.
Shortly after we moved in I inherited my grandmother dining room furniture. I love the clean lines of the it’s mid-century modern design. It sparked an entire room update. Go {here} for that post.
Painted china cabinets might be all the rage but a paint brush never come near this one. The shelves are a wonderful place to display our wedding china and other treasures that have been handed down.
Treasures like this needlepoint tapestry. My grandmother spent months creating these as seat covers for all six chairs. Although they weren’t my style, I couldn’t bring myself to toss them out. Framing one panel for the cabinet reminds me of her crafty self.
The blue birds on the dining room curtains are courtesy of a Target shower curtain. Yes, you read that right. I made full and flowly curtains from shower curtains. These floor length panels were my first DIY curtain making projects but definitely won’t be the last. 😉
Enough of the “fancy room” as my children like to call it. On to the space we really live ~ the Living Room.
Our living room is filled with photographs and other pieces that remind us of our days at the South Carolina coast. Honey loves to remind me that we don’t actually live at the beach but hey ~ a girl can dream, can’t she?
The gallery wall behind the couch is full of images from our summers on the coast. Arranging the frames took me forever! But I couldn’t be more pleased with the way it looks now. Soon I’ll share with you how I pulled it all together.
A $20 Craigslist dresser holds the TV and provides a ton of storage for dvd’s, extra school supplies, and games.
Across the room the mantel features a beautiful stained glass window. It was purchased at an antique store and has been following me across the state since I was in my early twenties. I literally squealed with delight when I realized the orange in the window matched with the other accessories!
The eat in kitchen area is the space I am most proud of! I have DIY’ing my little fingers to the bone painting, crafting and sewing.
Okay… not sewing but I can iron a mean hem with Stitch Witchery! Take a look!
The corner shelves in the kitchen were a great spot for one of Soho Sonnet’s Kitchen Printables. They are currently available on Sonnet’s Etsy shop along with many other wonderfully fun printables. Go check her out!
I love-love-love my navy blue chandy over the kitchen table! See more about this lovely {here}.
The small alcove in the kitchen finally has the perfect hutch. It fits the spot to a tee and provides storage for all the linens I have collected. Go {here} to see how this $35 Craigslist find was transformed.
Sweet, little green knobs were a major score. You wouldn’t believe the knob aisle at Hobby Lobby!
While we have been touring the downstairs, more than likely Tootsie will in her bedroom standing in front of her Magic Mirror dressed up like a princess.
Transforming her space into Adorable Little Girl’s Bedroom filled with soft colors, vibrant patterns, and vintage furniture was so much fun!
Having her room filled heirloom pieces such as my grandmother’s hope chest, sweet paintings, and a gallery wall filled with Generations of Love makes my heart happy.
By far the DIY Dress Up Station is Tootsie’s favorite spot. The wall space is designed for hanging her best gowns for the Royal Ball, it has a small hamper for more dress up storage, and a “Magic Mirror” for her to see her cute little princess self.
Wait! Before you go let me give you some fresh veggies from our garden! Our family loves acting like farmers and growing our own food. You can see all our garden posts {here} {here} {here} and {here}.
Thanks so much for stopping by! It’s so much fun to show off all the hard work that goes into making a house into a home. There is a ton of other rooms that are “in process”. I would love for you to follow along so you can see just how I turn these spaces into spaces to smile about.
Your comments totally make my day! They give me huge motivation to keep creating and having fun with my 3 Little Greenwoods!
I link up with these fun parties!
Love all your colorful touches and gallery wall. x

I love the pops of color and touches of modern fabrics you have combined with your traditional style. Everything looks fresh and updated. Love it! I wouldn’t paint the dining room set either, and I paint practically everything!
Thanks so much, Sweet Friend!
Hey ya! You are very talented. I love your stuff and how it all blends together. You like being busy because if you have three little Greenwoods and do all of this; you stay absolutely busy!!!!
I have an old pie safe that I have painted and put my china and crystal in. I still need doors for the books which are in the bottom…that will make it look so much better.
Thanks for sharing,
Linda
