How to Make Large Wall Art ~ Instructions

Step 1: Order the Engineering Print

Download the printable then upload it to your favorite office supply store online printing site. Place your order for a 18×24 engineering print.

Staples is by far my favorite for ordering engineering prints. The copy center employees know me by name and always call to let me know my jobs are ready to be picked up.

Step 2: Cut Foam Core to Size

First you will need to make a trip to the Dollar Store for a foam core poster. While you are there buy at least three because after you make large wall art for your home you are going to want to more more.

I promise!

Now lay print on foam core poster and trace around the edges using a pencil.

Use a serrated knife to score the lines you have traced. Basically you just want to cut through the top paper layer of the foam core. Do not cut all the way through!

Next carefully break the foam core along the scored line. This will give you a clean edge to the large wall art.

Tips for to Make Large Wall Art

  • Foam core posters can be very lightweight and flimsy. If you are looking for a sturdier piece, head to the craft store instead of the Dollar Tree.
  • Use these picture hanging adhesive strips to hang engineering prints on the wall.

Cute project! This would look adorable in my classroom and I know my 6th graders would love it.

I’ve been wanting to try a project with an engineering print for years. I’ve got an ancient envelope addressed to my great-grandmother with a cool stamp that I want to enlarge. Your technique is perfect for my idea and it will be inexpensive.
