Knob Shopping at Hobby Lobby

The $45 kitchen hutch transformation is finally in process. Wahoo!

After months of scouring Craigslist and local thrift shops I was super excited to find a piece that would fit both my space and my meager budget. Go {here} to see the diamond in the rough.

Kitchen Hutch

But after days of prepping and painting I needed a break.

SONY DSC

A break from dripping paint and these two “helpers”.
SONY DSCSeriously.

Agreeing to let these to “help” me paint was about to send me in search of a shot glass.

SONY DSC

So the next morning I dropped all their little happy selves off at school and headed to my happy place: Hobby Lobby. I needed new knobs to replace the very dated wooden knobs that came on the hutch originally.

SONY DSCHave you been on Hobby Lobby’s hardware aisle lately? It is full of every type and size of knob you can imagine. Each piece is reasonably priced and frequently goes on sale for 40% – 50% off!

I’m a colorful kind of girl so I quickly passed over the white knobs.

The crystal pieces really are pretty but way too fancy for my kitchen. knobs5

The first piece I really loved tied in all the colors of my newly updated kitchen. It’s the one on the left but after I stared at it for a few minutes I thought the pattern might be a tad too busy.

knobs3

I spied these pretty blue ones next. The kitchen just got a coat of soft blue paint and these knobs would be a great match {especially the second one}. But it might be too matchy-matchy. Plus these were really big. Too big for my little kitchen hutch. knobs2

Then I found it! See the small green ceramic one {second from left}? The green would go with the curtain fabric but it would introduce a little different color from all the blue.

Here’s a sneak peek of the curtain fabrics! I love how the green knobs picks up the same color in the print.  I can’t wait to get started on that project! Those curtains are going to be FABulous! knobs4$2.99 plus 50% off?! Sold! Six knobs costs me less than $10!

The Kitchen Hutch is almost finished. I will share the complete project with you next week!

Your comments totally make my day! They give me huge motivation to                    keep creating and having fun with my 3 Little Greenwoods!

Ashley, looks like it’s coming along! You picked out the perfect knobs! They resemble antique jadeite… You are a better woman than I am…letting small children help you with a paint project – Seriously?? Haha…if i lived closer, we could take each other out for shots…now that my 3 kiddos are out of school and my giant teenage sons are eating me out of house and home and using my car every moment, I’m ready for summer to be over, lol! Cannot wait to see the finished hutch 🙂

      Hey friend!

I’m so excited you like the kitchen hutch knobs! I’ve got to plan on painting projects more carefully (like when school starts back in August ~ it’s gonna be a LONG summer).

And I’m impressed that you made it through the experience with your “helpers.” You are one brave momma!

Hobby Lobby is a great place to get lost in when you have a little time about from the kiddos. But if I have to take them with me… that’s another story!
