The list for Home Office Furniture was long.
The Most Confused Room in Our Home needed many of specific items to define its focus into a true home office. But before I began to search each thrift store in a 30 mile radius I asked everyone I knew if they had any furniture to donate.
Ask and you shall receive!
My family and good friends came through in an awesome way.
One small mention from my sister-in-law about cleaning out her grandmother’s home got my little heart pitter pattering. Through out the weekend she would send me messages asking me if I wanted each piece.
You already know what I said. “Yes. Yes. Yes!”
Sister-in-law’s response: “Holy cow! You want all this stuff? Honey’s gonna flip!”
Here’s the goodies they generously gave me for FREE!
I’ve already confessed this whole room makeover is really all about me needed a space to blog. That means I need a desk. This sweet little desk and chair is a perfect fit between the the tall windows.
Because it was my SIL’s grandmother’s sewing table I have promised to take excellent care of it. That means no painting. Lucky for me she didn’t mention the hardware. So all the knobs and pulls will get a simple update.
You can see this spot is already being used daily. The large corkboard was a hand-me-down from a good friend. I see a fabulous new printed fabric covering it soon.
Notice the kitchen timer? I time myself so Facebook and Pinterest don’t steal my day away. Using it is an awesome blogging 101 tip!
Across the room from the desk is a dresser holding Honey’s humidor and two lamps. The huge dresser is actually from my mother. It will provide much needed storage for all of Honey’s leftover junk.
SIL’s grandmother had this set of gorgeous lamps in her formal living room. With the original lampshade they are over 2 1/2 feet tall.
Check out the texture on the shades. Little boy wanted to know why we had new lamps covered in carpet!
Once you get past the lampshades you notice the milk glass hobnail detail. It’s a beautiful and unexpected surprise hiding under the gigantic shades.
There can never be too many lamps in a room with no overhead lighting so I jumped at the chance to have this candlestick table lamp. The shape and wood tone is wonderful.
This hand-me-down comes with it’s own carpet covered shade too. The children love to pet this one. Of course, all three of these lampshades will be updated in some fashion.
Then there’s the two club chairs that my brother was going to take to Goodwill.
Wait, what?! Goodwill?
I seriously almost passed out at the thought of him donating these chairs to a thrift store when they would be so perfect for our home office.
Thank goodness I was able to rescue them. Along with the candlestick lamp table they will create the perfect spot for the children to distract me read while I work.
Now that the foundation of furniture is laid the next step will be to begin the process of adding color, texture, and pattern. I can’t wait!
But I’ve got to know… what would be your must have piece of furniture for your home office?
