If you are like me, there’s a stash of much loved Christmas cards somewhere in your house. All those cards with smiling faces and sentimental words are too precious to toss.
Instead of collecting the holiday cards in a basket create a Christmas Gallery Wall to display your special momentos.
Last summer I painted a large abstract for the foyer {more about that soon ~ promise}. Displayed above the painting were more abstract paintings from the children.
While I love this look, it just was not jiving with the bright and cheery Christmas decor I was going for. I needed greenery, twinkling lights, and red. Lots and lots of red!
I wanted something that welcomed our guests and showed off some of the Christmas cards I had collected over the years. A Christmas Gallery Wall was a perfect solution!
The huge abstract got wrapped with a layer of quilt batting plus an outdated window sheer. The painting’s sturdy frame made is easy to staple the fabric in place.
Next three wide wired ribbons were stapled into place. Along with cutesy little clothespins, the ribbons will help display all of the holiday cards.
On the wall around the ribbon card display are various frames filled with more Christmas cards and other festive pieces.
All of the frames are thrift store finds. Most were bought for less than $2 a each. A couple of coats of white and green spray paint later they are perfect for the Christmas gallery wall.
Patterned scrapbook paper placed inside each frame ties in all the colors. I love the sweet little clothespins. They are covered in washi tape and hold everything in place.
This pretty felt candle ornament is from the collection my grandmother gave me. The rest of these small jewels are on a tree inside the kitchen hutch. {Click here} to see them.
Most of these cards are from years past so if you are one of my “real life” friends I’ll be waiting on your Christmas cards to arrive. The smiling faces of your little ones and sweet words make my heart happy!
I would love to know how you display your favorite Christmas cards during the holiday season. Leave me a message in the comments to tell me all about it!

I love this. I want to come up with something cute to hang my cards on.
i love how you used the clothes pins in the frames!!!
Those tiny clothespins are too cute, aren’t they? I love making pretty things and feeding my crafting addiction. 🙂
