Open our front door and the first thing you will see is a small table. It is the perfect place to add a little bit of fall decor. But what are the perfect pieces that say fall without getting all crazy?
Let me show you how I created a Fall Vignette with 5 Simple Steps.
#1 Patterned Fabric
Discovering the huge mirror from my childhood bedroom set matched the small dry sink from my mother was pure luck. But all the matchy matchy wood was too much for me.
A pretty dishcloth was green and yellow leaves was the perfect piece to break up the orangey wood tones. I love that it lends itself to fall but doesn’t contain the traditional fall colors.
#2 DIY Rag Fabric Banner
Why stop at a little bit of patterned fabric when you can create a DIY Rag Fabric Banner with scraps from your stash?
I simply knotted three different coordinating fabrics on a twine string. The colors draw your eyes up to the top of the mirror and adds an interesting reflection.
#3 A Fun Fall Print
My favorite piece in this Fall vignette is the Three Feathers Artwork I created from Persia Lou’s Free Watercolor Feathers. The colors and details are fantastic!
The print is framed in a hand-me-down frame a friend shared with me. Hiding behind the feathers is a fat chef with a soup pot. 😉
Don’t you just love Tootsie’s Ghost Girl peeking above the print? {Click here} for the easy tutorial.

#4 Fall Inspired Kid Photographs
Each Fall I pull out these photographs of the boys when they were small. This may have been the last time I was allowed to dress them in coordinating outfits. I love their little chunky monkey, overall’ed selves!
If you don’t have fall inspired photographs of your family, just take the kids outside to let them play in a leaf pile. Snap away and I’ll bet you will capture at least one awesome moment.
No kids? Take a walk through your neighborhood in search of colorful fall leaves. Art can be anything you love!
#5 Pumpkins {of course}
Creating my own artwork with paint is a passion of mine. The vibrant Ikat Pumpkin Artwork I painted picks up the orange in the feathers and the navy trellis rug. {Click here} for the Ikat Pumpkin Artwork tutorial.
