$100 Room Challenge: Dining Room Makeover Ideas

Hold on to your little thrift store loving heart! There’s about to be a whole lot of Dining Room Makeover Ideas coming your way with projects straight from the thrift store shelves.

The warm breezes and blooming flowers of Spring are giving me the itch update our dining room.

So when Erin from Lemons, Lavender, & Laundry asked me to join her $100 Room Makeover Challenge I was all in! Here’s all the details about how the challenge works.

$100 Room Challenge: Dining Room Makeover Ideas Week 1

Khaki. Ecru. Brown.

Those are the three words you could use to describe our dining room when we moved in four years ago.

Just take a look.

Brown on the top. Darker brown on the bottom.

I tried so hard to be happy with what I had but it didn’t take long before I busted out a new can of paint.

That can of blue paint began the first Dining Room Makeover.

All that dreary brown was covered with a fresh blue. The old furniture was replaced with my grandmother’s dining room table and china cabinet. Then many DIY home decor projects came together to create a room I was proud to show.

Dining Room Makeover by 3 Little Greenwoods

Here’s the whole list of dining room makeover ideas and projects that happened during the first makeover.

The “Already Done” Dining Room Makeover Ideas

  • Painted the Dining Room {you’ve got to see the original two boring shades of brown}
  • New Furniture {thanks to my grandmother}
  • Updated the China Cabinet {without painting}
  • Recovered Dining Room Chairs {with a clearance shower curtain}
  • DIY Dining Room Curtains {made from a clearance tablecloth}
  • Updated the Dining Room Chandelier {without spray painting it like I did this one!}

The updated dining room became the backdrop for a Easter ham with all the traditional sides, a Mother’s Day Tea, and even a Basketball Party with chocolate fondue.

Of course, Christmas is the perfect time for decorating our whole house. That’s when the dining room really turns into something special.

As much as I still love our dining room, after four years I’m yearning for a change.

Here’s a list of all the projects I’d like to make happen for this $100 Room Challenge.

The “To Do” Dining Room Makeover Ideas

  • New Color Scheme of Coral and Greens
  • Update China Cabinet {bold patterned paper and lights without drilling any holes}
  • Transforming a Thrift Store Painting
  • Decorating Inside and Top of China Cabinet
  • Create Floral Printables for New Artwork
  • New Centerpiece and Tablescape for Easter
