#1 Goal for 2014: The Little Girl’s Room

Spread the love

The #1 Goal for 2014 is…

{drumroll please}

to finally finish Tootsie’s bedroom.

Here’s a look at the beginning. Before all the boxes were unpacked I had big plans to transform this space.

Baby girl’s room is halfway there.

The walls got fresh coat of soft green paint right after we settled in. A year and a half ago.

Those ugly grandmama curtains were replaced with a hot pink pelmet. That’s a fancy word for window valance or cornice board over a window. Thankyouverymuch.

A huge thank you Cassie at Hi Sugarplum for a great tutorial on exactly how to build the pelmets.

With a little DIY, one corner of the room became our sweet Rock-a-Baby Corner.

Thanks to my grandmothers the walls have a bit of artwork.

What’s the motivation behind all this determination?

Tootsie’s getting her very own big girl bed.

No more putting baby in the corner. Or “the cage” as Little Boy called the crib when we brought baby girl home from the hospital. 😉

Here’s the plan:

  • Use what I’ve got! Thank goodness for hand-me-down furniture.
  • Layer the space with pattern and color with fabric and paint.
  • Add family history with photographs.
  • Create an inspiring place to play.

What about you? Do you have “that room” you just need to finally finish? What are your goals for this year?

Thanks so much! I’ve got tons of little projects planned for her bedroom. More counter space in your kitchen? Now this I’ve got to see! We all need more space to prep and cook. Good luck!
