Raise your hand if you love having Decorating and artificial Christmas tree but hate the ugly plastic stand underneath.

This project can be completely free if you have three items already at home. All you need is a cardboard box, glue sticks, and wrapping paper.
Three easy to find supplies to make a unique tree collar for your Christmas tree!
How to Make a DIY Christmas Tree Collar
Cardboard box (small enough to fit under your tree)
Craft glue sticks
Scissors
Good quality wrapping paper
Step One: Prep the Cardboard Box
Use a serrated knife to cut one corner seam of the cardboard box. The box I used measured 14” x 9”.
Next remove the “flaps” on the bottom. This will leave you with a neat bottom to the DIY tree collar.
Give it a test run to make sure the box will fit underneath the tree.
Step two: Wrap the Box
Grab your kiddos’ glue sticks and your favorite wrapping paper.
Cover the flattened cardboard box with quality wrapping paper. Don’t forget to neatly wrap all edges.
Step Three: Secure in Place
Use double sided tape to secure the DIY Christmas Tree Collar exactly where you want it.
DIY Tree Collar Tips
- Do yourself a favor and choose thicker quality wrapping paper for this project. Thinner paper will rip.
- Make sure the wrapping paper coordinates with the theme of your tree. This is a great way to pull your Christmas decorating theme all together.

Do you wrap the top flaps individually? Trying to figure out how it will fold without ripping the paper.
Thanks so much for your question! I just wrapped the cardboard bow loosely so the paper would give a little when bent.
