Welcome to our Holiday Home Tour!
Last year our main living areas got all the Christmas decoration love so now it’s our dining room’s turn in the Christmas spotlight!
I am so happy to share our Christmas home with all of you for the third year in a row (click to see last year’s Christmas tour) and (click here to see our Bright and Cheery Christmas Porch). I’ve been waiting to show off our Christmas dining room for weeks now so get comfy… you are in for a treat!
I am joining 30 of my favorite creative bloggers to share our Christmas homes with you throughout this week. You can check out today’s home tours at the bottom of this post and see all 30 homes right here.
You know how you find that one piece that can set off an entire room makeover?
These little reindeer were the spark that lit the whole design for our Christmas dining room. They had my heart when I first saw them at our local craft store. I love their sweet little faces and big ears. The fact that they are covered in a fine coat of glitter makes them even better!
But before I began to decorate I always remember my #1 Rule of Decorating ~ Hunt your House First! Think about the colors you would like to use and gather anything your can find that fits in the scheme.
For the Christmas Dining Room I chose red, bright greens, and white for the color scheme. Red at Christmas is very traditional and since it’s also my favorite color I just had to use it our decorations. Bright green was added to give the traditional a kick in the pants!
Let’s start the holiday home tour with my grandmother’s china cabinet. She gifted me with her entire dining room set several years ago. Christmas decorating way one of her favorite things so it was so much fun filling the china cabinet up with lots of holiday cheer.
Of course, the sweet little reindeer were the first pieces to be nestled onto the shelves.
Traditional holly leaf Christmas dishes were stacked to create interest and height throughout the china cabinet.
The metal houses were fabulous after Christmas finds several years ago. A battery operated candle gives them a lovely glow each night.
The dining room’s Christmas tree decoration is a complete departure from any tree we’ve had before. In the past this tree has been filled with handmade ornaments and snowflakes. But this year it’s showcasing handmade coffee filter ornaments and family silhouettes in bright red frames. I could not love it more!
More on how I pulled this Traditional Christmas Tree with a Southern Twist coming soon!
Now it’s time to show off our Christmas dining room tablescape.
Yes, our crazy family of five really does sit here to have Christmas day dinner together. Gathering around the table in the “fancy room” {as my children call it} is important at the holidays. It makes the occasion even more special and gives them memories that will last a lifetime.
But the part about our Christmas Dining Room that I love the most is peeking around the corner each night to see the whole room lit up with Christmas cheer. It makes me smile every time.
Thank you so much for joining me on the Holiday Home Tour of our Christmas Dining Room. I hope you have been inspired to make some Christmas magic of your own. Don’t forget to pin and share anything that I fell in love with!

That tree is gorgeous! I also am loving the table, so many great details are on it. Perfect for the holidays.
Thanks so much for the sweet comment, Emily! My Christmas tablescape makes me smile each time I pass by.
Oh! How fun this is! The hutch is my favorite.
The Christmas hutch is my favorite too! I just wish it had some holes for Christmas light cords! Thanks so much for the sweet comment, Rachel!
Your “fancy” room is just lovely! 🙂 I WANT those deer!!! So adorable! So very cozy!
Thanks so much for the sweet comment, Sara! It was so fun to decorate our ‘fancy’ room with my little reindeer.
Ashley those deer are so very precious. You put everything together so nicely and I wish I had room for a nice hutch to decorate.
I’m so grateful to have a separate dining room that is large enough for my grandmother’s china cabinet. It was so much fun filling it up with all of my Christmas decor! Thanks so much for the sweet comment, Erlene!
My Mom had (almost) the same exact dining room set….. and the only difference between your Grandmother’s China Cabinet/Hutch & my Mom’s is that on the 2 side glass pieces there were gold lines in a diamond pattern. Lots of good memories of many Christmas Eve dinners around that table~my Mom’s was rectangular w/corners. Her chair backs were caned. Had a buffet table as well. I inherited it for several years (about 16). However after 1 apt & 2 houses I came to the realization that the set was really quite large for our current & “forever home”. We had to collapse the table & place it in another room as it truly did not fit in our dining area (we do not have a separate “fancy” room now). So, when a young couple we know from our Church were married, I gave it to them as a wedding gift. They both have large families, and it filled my heart with joy and peace to know that wonderful table would again be a part of many, many family memories of holiday gatherings. Still~ I miss the old catch phrase from when my 2 teens were just babes~ “Watch the China Cabinet!” As if it could do magic……! Thanks for bringing some nostalgia to my Christmas season.
Oh how I love that you shared this with me! Even though the chairs are very wobbly, I truly treasure my grandmother’s dining room set.
I love it! So cute. The tree topper is fabulous along with everything else.
Thanks so much, Amy! The Christmas tree topper was so much fun to make from colorful wired ribbon and clearance Christmas picks!

Thanks so much, Kathy! I *need* to go find a few more of those little reindeer before they are all gone from the store.
What a fun dining room! It would be so much fun to decorate a “proper” dining room for Christmas. I love how you styled the hutch and the tree in there is amazing!
It is so amazing to have one space that’s off limits from crayons, ninja turtles, and Pokemon cards!
Beautiful Christmas tree and love all the bright colors throughout the house.
