$2 Valentine Wreath Made with Trash Bags!

Valentine’s Day is one of the most fun holidays to decorate for! But no one wants to break the bank to spread love and cheer. So I created a Valentine Wreath out of the simplest supplies and it only cost me $2.00 to make it!

You read that right. This sweet, fluffy heart shaped Valentine Wreath cost $2.00 to make!

Bet you can already guess what supplies I used.

Yep. Trash Bags & an extra large hanger.

In my opinion, any door decor needs to be seen clearly from the street. The white heart pops against the red front door!

Thank goodness the door didn’t turn out hot pink like I first thought it would!

See all that feathery goodness? Love it!

Heart Shaped Valentine Wreath ~ Supplies

7-10  8-gallon white trash bags

large metal hanger

scraps of wired ribbon {Use this bow making tutorial}

Heart Shaped Valentine Wreath ~ Instructions

Go to your closet and find the largest wire hanger you can find. One of my husband’s dry cleaning hangers worked great!

The trickiest part of this whole project is bending the hanger into a heart shape. Use pliers to make small bends at the ends of each wire. Then hook the bends together.

Don’t stress about making the heart shape perfect.

It adds character if one side is larger than the other. (wink, wink)

Do not unfold the trash bag before you cut them into 1″ strips! I laid 4 bags at a time on top of each other then carefully cut them into 1″ wide x 6″ long strips.

My wreath used 8 trash bags.  At less than $3 for a box of 18 bags, my wreath used about $1.50 worth.

Simply tie the strips on until the hanger is completely covered. After tying on the strips, I gently pulled apart the layers to give each some extra fluffiness.

Finish the Valentine Wreath with a fabulous bow using the Easiest Bow Making Trick EVER!

The ribbon I used came from my craft room ribbon stash. Zero dollars!
