Our entire family is in love with our newly built DIY Container Garden. When I asked the boys to help build a Garden Trellis for the peas they were more than willing to help gather and saw sticks for the project!
Like everything else in our garden, the sugar snap peas we planted from seeds are growing bigger each day.
See those tender tendrils? They are looking for something to grow up.
A trellis is just what they need! Of course, we could have hopped in the truck to head to Home Depot for a pre-made trellis but why buy one when we could make one!
Little Boy spotted the perfect sticks in a neighbor’s yard debris pile. Nice, straight, and the perfect diameter for making a DIY trellis.
I can see what he is thinking… these would make awesome fishing poles! 😉
After looking in the garden, we decided our trellis needed to be 2-3 feet wide. Big Boy began to measure and cut the 4-5 pieces that would go across the trellis.
Next we laid all the pieces out on the table {left over from the boys’ fantastic Backyard Campout Birthday Party}.
Once I shared with the boys how to wrap the pieces together with yarn, they began to secure the trellis together.
And that lasted for about five minutes…
The zip ties held the trellis together well enough but we still added yarn to most of the junctions. Adding the yarn gave the structure extra support.
Here’s silly Little boy modeling the finished garden trellis. Love his missing front teeth!
The happy little sugar snap peas are already clinging to the trellis and growing up.
We are crossing our fingers it will only be a few more weeks we have sweet peas to eat!
Want to see how we started “farming”?
Your comments totally make my day! They give me huge motivation to keep creating and having fun with my 3 Little Greenwoods!
I link up with these fun parties!

Thanks so much for sharing.
Have a great Monday,

Thanks Suzanne!I’m sure our neighbors were wondering what in the world we were doing dragging all those sticks down the street back to our house. But they did make the best trellis! 😉
This is such an adorable project! 🙂
Thanks for joining the Link Up this week!
Yes those little missing teeth are too cute! I love this! We have some sticks we should do this with! Love this idea so much!
My Little boy is so cute with is missing teeth smile! I have no idea what type of trees those stick came from but they made a great trellis!
What do you mean for the kids?! This is perfect for ME and my brown thumb!
Well… like I said in the post, the boys’ attention span zeroed out about 5 minutes into the project so most of it’s mama made. 😉 My sweet little sugar snap peas need something to grow up!
By the way, I am loving all your garden update photos you are sharing! Keep them coming!
I am needing a trellis for my garden and this is a great idea. Thanks for sharing and I will be pinning for later.
Hey Tammy!
Thanks so much for pinning our garden trellis! I wish I had dragged more of those great sticks from the trash pile. A fence around the garden would be so cute made of those!
Thank you so very much for sharing this wonderful project at last week’s Project Inspire{d} ~ it’s my feature of the week ~ pinned and stumbled.
I hope you join the party again this week.
hugs, mary beth
I am so honored to be chosen by you as a feature. Thanks so much for pinning our garden trellis!

Visiting from A Bowl full of Lemons…I LOVE this! My 4-year old and I made a teepee trellis for our beans too. I love it when the kids get involved in the garden. Makes it even more worthwhile! Thanks for sharing this! We might have to make a version of this to go in our children’s garden area for Morning Glories!
Oh a teepee trellis would be super fun! We have got to make one of those next year!
Oh my gosh, I love this little project! I bet your kids loved making this and they felt so proud for contributing to the garden. I adore how the trellis looks so cottagey looking, that’s not a word, but I’ll use it. Thanks so much for linking up to the Be.You.Tiful Link Party. We appreciate you taking the time to link up and share your creative posts with us!

Thank you so much! The boys are so proud of them and the trellis has come in very handy with our cucumbers too!
