It’s almost time for most of us to start traveling “over the river and through the woods”. For our family that is an over three hour drive just to visit one set of family. With these tricks and snack time help from Lola Granola Bars I’ll guarantee an easier trip this holiday season.
Here’s my top 3 Must Haves for Traveling with Kids.
1. Entertainment!
Something to read ~ favorite books or the newest kid magazines {Here’s a secret: toy catalogs make great traveling companions!}
Movies ~ I thank my lucky stars each time we travel that there is a built in television in our SUV.
Electronic gadgets ~ Kindles for the boys and the LeapPad for Tootsie {Make sure everything is fully charged with power cord and back-up batteries included!}
2. Comfort for All!
Warm blankets ~ we rarely leave home without our favorite blankets to snuggle {Even the boys will drift off to sleep when they are wrapped in their blankets!}
Small pillows
Favorite Friends ~ Tootsie loves her Piglet
Headache medicine for Mama {I might have an unhealthy relationship with Ibuprofen.} 😉
Earplugs for Honey {Imagine three children talking/singing/fighting at once.}
3. Food!
Typically we only get an hour away from home before one of our three begins to complain about being hungry and needing a snack. Lucky for them, their mama always travels with a tote bag full of good for them goodies.
Easy to eat fruit ~ Apples and bananas are always favorites but my three are loving oranges right now. To make them easier to eat I precut the oranges then place them into baggies.
Bottled water
Crunchy snacks ~ pita chips or crackers
Lola Granola Bars ~ our entire family enjoys these chewy and naturally sweet granola bars. They are the perfect, healthy snack for busy mamas and kids on the go.

Honey enjoyed The Ellie with his morning coffee as he ran out the door to work. The children really liked the granola bars as an afterschool snack. I paired The Lola with my favorite peanut butter to make a quick breakfast. So yummy!

I’ve never tried Lola Granola Bars, but they sound great. We always travel with entertainment and snacks too. And lots of travel games.
Travel games! I need to pick up a few of those. I know the boys would love them!

Get something new to bring out when he’s bored of everything. I usually pick up a new coloring/ activity book or movie.
Oh I need to buy some coloring books! Thanks so much for the reminder.

Would love to try these granola bars. A healthy treat for my two boys.
When we travel, which can be as long as 16 hours…. We always make sure the boys have enough leg room and room between each of them… Their own personal space. It’s very important on a long car ride. Lol
Personal Space is VERY important! Thanks so much for the comment love, Tracy!

Great tips! We travel quite often and our number 1 tip is always take their sleeping buddies either blanket or stuffed toy.
I always pray those sleeping buddies do the trick and the children sleep all the way there! Thanks so much for the comment love!

Love this post. You definitely look ready for a road trip and the piglet is the cutest! I have to look for these Lola bars, I have never seen them before.
We are ready for that trip to Grandma’s house next week! Hope I’ve got enough snacks!

These are great tips. My #1 tip is to be lots of things to keep kids entertained. When my kids were small, I’d wrap small toys or books from the dollar store. They would get one every few hours. They loved getting them and they were entertained for days. when we’d drive cross country. Another tip is to have wet wipes or paper towels handy. They always come in handy with kids.
Oh, wrapping toys and small books is an excellent idea!

Those Lola bars sound delicious! Checking to see if they are in any of my local stores 🙂
They were really yummy! Thanks so much for the comment love, Erin!

My tip is be patient and don’t get in a hurry! They are going to need bathroom breaks and it’s ok to stop, stretch the legs, and play for a minute. 🙂
Why do we always think we have to get places in record breaking time? Thanks so much for the reminder.

We just drove from MN to FL straight, so I have some tips! Snacks are definitely the number one – making sure they’re healthy is important because it’s best to just continuously feed them 🙂
It’s a big fat YES to the continuously feed them on long trips! I need to buy more snacks! 😉

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I agree with this list! I don’t have kids but my mom used to do this for us when we traveled and I loved it. Give me my favorite books and a few snacks and I’m good to go! It made for peaceful car rides because my sister and I each had our own things to do and we weren’t really bothering each other (which I’m sure my parents appreciated!).
The earplugs and headache medicine works pretty good too! 🙂
Thanks for the comment love!

Snacks – lots and lots of snack!
YES! I plan on never running out of food for them to eat on our long drives. 😉
