Summer Activities for Kids: Trampoline Painting!

Spread the love

Today I’m sharing one of the best summer activities for kids that we have done: Trampoline Painting!

Trampoline Painting is a super fun activity with homemade paint that is perfect for the lazy days of summer. My children loved being little artists on the trampoline and making the homemade paint was a snap!

When I told the children we were painting the trampoline, I think they thought we were going to tag it with some spray paint! The boys were a little disappointed when I pulled out a box of cornstarch.

But cornstarch, water, and food coloring is all you need to do this fun outside activity. Time to paint the trampoline!

How to Make Homemade Paint: Supplies Needed

1 cup cornstarch

1 cup water

food coloring

That’s it!

All you need for homemade paint is THREE ingredients: food coloring, cornstarch and water!

Mixing up the paint is easy. Just dissolve one cup of cornstarch in one cup of water. Stir the cornstarch slowly into the water making sure to dissolve it all before it forms a hard clump on the bottom of the bowl.

Using a muffin tin, divide the solution into small parts for color mixing.  We made two batches of the cornstarch mixture so we ended up with two muffin tins full of vibrant homemade paint.

After the cornstarch and water mixture is divide up, add drops of food coloring to each section of the muffin tin. Aren’t the colors fabulous?

Outside we go! Our trampoline made the perfect canvas for the children’s artwork.

They loved it! The children painted pictures, wrote their names, and even had a “grand finale”. That’s fancy words for everyone paint your feet then use the leftover paint to splash your brother.

The colors become darker as they dry. I’m happy to report that all the paint washed right off in the bath and did not stain their clothes.

We will make this paint again to use on the driveway in a few weeks. I see more body paint in the near future!

Add Trampoline Painting to your summer activities for kids. The two ingredient homemade paint is a snap to make and your kiddos will love painting with the vibrant colors!

You are the most fun mommy ever! I let my boys jump in mud puddles the other day, and it took them forever to get started because they couldn’t believe I was letting them do it, lol. They eventually got into it and made a mess, though. Your kiddos will have such fun memories from this activity. Thanks for the inspiration!

Took them a minute to believe you? That is too funny! My boys want to know what we are doing next. I better think of something quick!

This looks great. Does the paint wash off the trampoline easily?

Yes, the trampoline paint washed off easily with a hose or a hard summer rain.
