Mother’s Day Crafts for Kids in Preschool! Homemade craft from kids to give to parents. Perfect for DIY gift for Mother’s Day.
This is a Mother’s Day gifts that kids can easily make for moms and grandmothers. It’s a lovely keepsake crafts that mothers will love. And BONUS ~ kids created most of this DIY present!
Mother’s Day Crafts for Kids: Supplies Needed
blank canvas (plywood rectangle or canvas)
craft paint in a variety of colors (I love this set!)
Photograph of kiddo
Step One: Paint the Background
Add squirts of several different blues onto the canvas. Give the kiddo a paint brush and have them swirl the paint all around to create the “sky” background.
Step Two: Add a Photograph
During recess one day I photographed each of my students. You can ask them to pose however you would like. I think I said, “arms up and give me a big smile!”
After the pictures were printed I cut the children’s body then Mod Podged them to the dried background.
Simply add sealer to the canvas, lay the photograph on top, then add another layer of Mod Podge on top of the photograph. Allow it to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Step Three: Let the Kiddos Paint!
Allowing the children to add their personality to the Mother’s Day gift is the best part of this project. I provided a palate of colors then gave them a few directions:
- Paint a Sun Up Top
- Paint Grass on the Bottom
- Add some Flowers (after the “grass” has dried)
Each of one the DIY Mother’s Day gifts are different. The children are so proud to wrap them in tissue paper to give to their mothers at our preschool’s special Mother’s Day tea.
Magnets can be glued to the back for refrigerators.
