Melted Bead Ornaments are a perfect Christmas Activity for Kids! It’s a simple Christmas craft made from supplies you might even have already in your craft stash.
Happy day after Thanksgiving everyone! I hope your holiday was filled with lots of turkey and even more love from your family and friends.
Now that the dishes are cleared you might be looking for a simple kid friendly craft to keep your little ones busy. I’ve got just the Christmas ornament project for you!
Our holiday is always filled with kid friendly crafts. This weekend my three little ones and I created Melted Bead Ornaments for our Christmas decorations. Melted Bead Christmas Ornaments ~ Supplies Needed
multi-colored plastic pony beads
metal cookie cutters ~ my favorite set!
colorful Christmas ribbon
metal baking sheets
There are only a few supplies needed to make this colorful ornament: plastic pony beads, metal cookie cutters, metal baking sheets and an oven.
There are no scissors, paper, glitter, or smoking hot glue gun needed. This is definitely my kind of kid craft!
Melted Beads Ornament ~ Instructions
Step One: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.
Step Two: Prep the Ornaments
Next we gathered around the kitchen table with metal baking sheets placed between the children. To make the ornaments, first lay the metal cookie cutters (my favorite set!) on the baking sheet then fill with one layer of multi-colored plastic pony beads.
Those little fingers received fine motor workout as the children patiently filled each shape.
Tip: Carefully check over each to make sure there is only one layer of beads. More than one layer will make the ornaments bumpy as they melt.
Step Three: Melt in the Oven
Place the baking sheet with the bead filled cookie cutters into a 400 degree oven for 20 minutes.
Do not remove the metal cookie cutters before baking.
Step Four: Allow to cool and pop them out!
After 20 minutes the beads will melt together inside the cookie cutter to form a colorful piece of art! Allow the ornaments to cool completely then pop them out of the mold.
Step Five: Get it ready for the Christmas tree!
Attach a colorful bow, a red bakers twine loop for hanging, and they are ready for the tree!
I love how the bright melted bead ornaments add pops of color to our Christmas tree. Can you see Santa peeking behind the Christmas tree?
That is our Christmas Countdown Santa! Soon all those little pockets will be filled with a daily activity for our family to do together.
