Dear Al… I’m so sorry!

I have made a solemn promise to myself. The next time I see Al Roker on NBC news going on about an epic-historic- catastrophic ice storm headed my way, I will believe him.

We were told to brace ourselves for layers of thick, slick ice and imminent power outages.

I rolled my eyes and told Honey there was no way.

No way we would ever get more winter weather. It wasn’t two weeks ago that we were blessed with snow for the children to play in. I love Tootsie’s takemebackinside cringe!

But our family awoke bright and early the next morning to a landscape from Narnia and no power.

Tootsie declared that Princess Elsa from “Frozen” was to blame.

Well, Elsa’s got some “splainin to do!” Because she left a huge mess.

This is my favorite river birch tree. Thankfully only one large branch was broken by the weight on the ice.

Of course, the boys had a fabulous time sledding using anything they could find. Look close… that’s an old playset ladder. Little boys’ ingenuity at it’s best!

Good thing they enjoyed the ice while it lasted. After it all melted, Honey signed them up for the clean up crew.

While we worked Tootsie frolicked around the yard.

Electricity is a wonderful thing. Our family was only without power for two days. Others in our area are on day SIX without refrigerators, water, and heat. Power company crews from as far as Alabama are working around the clock to repair all the snapped power lines and blown transformers. We are so grateful to them and their families!

So the next time there is even a hint of ice coming our way, I will rush the grocery stores and gas stations just like all the other crazies.

And Al…I will never doubt you again. Pinky promise.

Your comments totally make my day! They give me huge motivation to                    keep creating and having fun with my 3 Little Greenwoods!

I was very grateful our power come back on after only 2 days. It took the internet 2 days longer to come back on. Me and my laptop have been spending quality time together ever since!
