We are merrily counting down day the days to Christmas.
Downtown Tree Lighting
The weather was just perfect for our first Christmas Tree Lighting. Many families gathered around the tree enjoying hot chocolate and cookies.
Candles were lit as we sang Silent Night.
Three. Two. One. The tree is lit!
Gingerbread Man Time!
There is nothing more fun than reading The Gingerbread Man by Jim Aylesworth and Barbara McClintock. and baking your own giant cookie to eat.
Well, except for that time one jumped out of the school cafeteria oven and ran away. Now that was some serious excitement for 21 kindergarten students! {All my teacher friends thought I had lost my mind.}
Last year when I told Little Boy about the time we chased our Gingerbread Man around the school he burst into tears. Who knew a smoking hot, mischievous magic cookie was a teeny weenie bit scary?
At home we make sure to bake our gingerbread men the whole time so there’s no chance of him escaping. 😉
Thank goodness Big Boy can read and follow directions now. He did all the mixing and cooking for us.
All three joined in for a decorating!
Don’t forget to scream when you cut off Gingy’s legs! Yum!
Afternoon at the Movies
Our family met my parents and my brother’s family for an afternoon at the movie theater. We loved-loved-loved Disney’s “Frozen”!
We loved it so much I bought the soundtrack and we have been singing “Do you want to build a snowman?” ever since!
Elf Night and Coke Guzzling Contest!
Another movie we love is “Elf”!
Remember the scene in the movie when Buddy drinks an entire 2 liter of Coke at the dinner table? That’s one of the boys’ favorite parts so I decided to have a little fun by having a Coke Guzzling Contest.
Everyone got a huge cup of Coke (caffeine free!).
On your mark! Get set! Go!
Note to self: Use a smaller cup next year.
Even though the boys tried their hardest they were not be able to drink even a 1/4 of that huge cup. But it sure was funny watching them!
Hope you are enjoying the fun! Remember to take the time to make memories for your little ones.
