Hey! I’m Ashley Greenwood and I am so excited that you took the time to pop over to my blog!
3 Little Greenwoods began in January of 2013 as a creative place for me to share the process of updating our home, creating fun crafts, and having fun with my children. It has grown into so much more!
Now you find lots of inexpensive DIY home decor projects, tutorials for creative DIY birthday cakes, easy Southern recipes, and brightly colored craft projects.
My motto for life and decorating is…
You are probably here to learn a little bit more about the Mama who runs the show at 3 Little Greenwoods here I am in a list.
10 Things About the Mama from 3 Little Greenwoods
1. Yes, there are 3 Little Greenwoods.
They are my children: two rowdy boys and one spunky little girl.
Big Boy is full of determination and will one day rule the world {or so he thinks}.
Little Boy has the sweetest heart and is always thinking about others. For months he would make his little sister’s breakfast before we got up on Saturday morning.
Then there’s Tootsie. She is my shadow who follows me around the house questioning where we are going today, demanding more milk {not fresh milk but chocolate, please}, and belting out Frozen songs at the top of her voice. She puts a smile on my face with her sassy personality.
Here we are being silly on our last beach vacation.
2. I love Honey
No, not the sweet sticky stuff.
In case you may not know, Honey is my sweet husband. He is the smartest and funniest man I know. Honey is the muscle behind our bay window curtain rod and the Star Spangled Door Decor I put up every year!
3. I’m the most fun Kindergarten teacher you will ever meet!
Wrangling a classroom full of energetic 5 year olds is exhausting but I loved every minute of it. We spent our days learning, singing, dancing, and growing together.
Although I’m no longer in the classroom, in my heart I will always be a kindergarten teacher.
UPDATE: I’m currently the most fun preschool teacher you have ever met! There are a dozen sweet little faces that I get to teach each day and I could not be happier.
4. Whistling gets on my last nerve.
I know this is straight up weirdness but I hate whistling. Whenever I hear a happy tune I think the person must be up to no good.
See? I told you it’s weird.
5. I’ve got a Phobia
I believe the medical term is Ihatetotalkonthephone-aphobia. This means I will avoid picking up the phone at all costs on most days. Even if that means I have to clean. Gasp!
I even avoid calling my dearest friends because I hate it so much. So if you are a sweet friend of mine and haven’t returned your call for weeks. Now you know…
6. My Sewing Machine Scares Me Too
Many, many years ago Santa brought me a simple sewing machine. My grandmother tried her hardest to teach me but I could never get the hang of it. The needle and the bobbin and the thread all tangled up scared me so I’ve never taken the time to learn how to use it.
That’s why I’m all about No-Sew projects! Like this one and this one.
7. I adore Grape Flavored Crystal Light
It is a rare day when you will catch me without a tall Tervis Tumbler filled to the brim with Grape Crystal Light. I *love* that stuff!
Blame it on my last pregnancy. Tootsie was born in the middle of August. I have never been so hot in my entire life. Grape Crystal Light and ice cold watermelon were the only two things that made those last two months of sweltering heat bearable.
8. Crafting is in my Genes
Each of my grandmothers were very crafty ladies. They were always painting, crocheting, or repurposing something. I got a big ole double dose of creativity from each of them!
9. I’m an Official Trashy Book Club Member
That’s right. A Trashy Book Club.
We all may have read the classics in college but now that we are all grown up we are all about escaping the realities of homework, whiney children, and laundry. Bring on the Edwards and Bellas of the literary world!
For years we met monthly to discuss our latest reads, children, husbands, jobs, and whatever else we needed to get off our chests. We gut-laughed over bottles of Coronas filled with green olives, frosty mugs of Blue Moons, and tall vodka tonics.
10. I don’t do perfect.
Seriously. Perfect is too hard.
Making things pretty and planning a fun party is so much fun for me but life is too short to stress about doing things exactly right. So please enjoy my blog without the pressure of worrying about making the perfect DIY project or home made birthday cake.
Just enjoy!
