Welcome to More About the Mama Mondays! Today we are talking about one of my most favorite things: Books!
Here’s a list of just a few of my favorite reads:
Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers ~
The message of this Redeeming Love is simple: God’s love can save anyone. Even a prostitute named Angel. Truly all of Francine River’s books have been phenomenal. They are each touching and thought provoking.
Other favorites from Francine Rivers include The Last Sin Eater and A Voice in the Wind (The Mark of the Lion Series).
Southern Living Magazine ~
Okay this is not a book but no self respecting Southern lady would be caught dead without a Southern Living Magazine on her coffee table or tucked into her huge pink paisley beach bag. How else would we know which “white cake” we are supposed to be making for Christmas?
Sookie Stackhouse Series ~
Dead Until Dark is the first book in a series of 13 novels about Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress, who gets all wrapped up into a mystical world of vampires, werewolves, and fairies.
Please don’t get all weirded out about all the magical stuff. Charlaine Harris’ novels are great stories about love, crazy families, and the choices we make.
Yes, these books are the basis for the HBO Series “True Blood” but they are so much better than the show.
Children’s Picture Books ~
When I was teaching kindergarten my favorite time of the day was story time. Sharing a wonderful story with beautiful illustrations is magical. If you throw in a fancy or silly character voice you have them hooked!
I adore being a Stay-at-Home Mama but there are days that I yearn to be sitting in front a group of five year olds with a picture book in my hands.
The Blue Willow Inn Cookbook by Jane and Michael Stern ~
Along the way to Atlanta there is a small Southern town named Social Circle that is home to one of the best Small Town Restaurants in the South: The Blue Willow Inn.
I am the proud owner of The Blue Willow Inn Cookbook by Jane and Michael Stern. My cookbook was bought over ten years ago when my brother was in vet school at the University of Georgia. Now the pages are speckled with grease and cake batter and the spine is partially broken.
It is full of traditional Southern recipes that are much easier to follow than my grandmother’s “mix up a little of this and add a pinch of that” directions. My favorite recipe is the Macaroni and Cheese!
Trashy Beach Reading Paperbacks ~
I can’t leave off my trashy, beach reading paperback books! See the one on the bottom missing the front cover? Paradise by Judith McNaught is one of my favorite books!
Summertime is just around the corner and I need great books for the beach! Please share your “Oh my goodness you have to read this” favorites with me!
